Most common questions asked about Electrolysis

Electrolysis FAQ"S

1. How does electrolysis work?

During an electrolysis session, a certified technician inserts a fine probe into the hair follicle. An electric current or heat is then delivered through the probe, which eventually destroys the hair follicle’s ability to grow hair.

2. Is electrolysis permanent?

Yes, electrolysis is considered the only FDA approved form of permanent hair removal. Once a hair follicle is treated, it will not grow hair again. However, multiple sessions are usually required for optimal results, as hair grows in cycles.

3. How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions required varies based on factors such as hair type, treatment area, and individual hair growth cycles. Electrolysis is a journey and a commitment but one well worth taking.

4. What areas can be treated with electrolysis?

Electrolysis can be performed on virtually any area of the body, including the face, underarms, bikini line, legs, and back.

5. Does it hurt?

Some clients may experience discomfort during the treatment, which can be minimal and temporary. The sensation is often described as a slight tingling or pinching. Topical numbing creams can be applied for added comfort. Make sure you are hydrated for your appointment as it will minimize the pain.

6. Are there any side effects?

Common side effects may include redness, swelling, or tenderness in the treated area, but these typically subside shortly after the session. Following aftercare instructions can help minimize side effects.

7. How should I prepare for my first

     appointment?

  • Avoid sun exposure to the treatment area.

  • Do not wax or pluck hairs at least a few weeks prior to your appointment.

  • Arrive with clean skin; avoid lotions or creams on the treatment area.

  •

8. Can I shave before my electrolysis treatment?

No.  The hair must be long enough to remove with tweezers. You can shave between appointments but not right before.

Waxing and tweezing are to be completely avoided once you start your electrolysis journey.

9. Can I resume normal activities after treatment?

Yes, most clients can return to their daily activities immediately after a session. However, it's advisable to avoid strenuous exercise and hot baths for a short period to reduce irritation.
